Metallic 'clank' when starting

oK, here's the deal, I let my bro in law drive my '95 Z while he was in a bind for the $. Now, a few (maybe 3) months later I get it back and when I go to start it this is the scene....I turn the key...wait for the pump/injectors to cut-off....crank...but instead of a nice rumble I get a "clickanckt" then rumble...WTF could this be, I'm thinkin flywheel or starter, any other opinions before I go sinkin cash into this? TY in advance... GP

Take a peek under the car and see if maybe he ran over something.

Your starter could be loose. Very Loose. May need to tighten it up. Like said above you may have hit something causing it to break. It could also simply just be a worn out starter solenoid not engaging correctly. Does the sound seem to come from that area?
