Exclamation melling M55 Oil pump Question!!!

Will I be ok with the stock pump? Or should I go with a High Volume? My mods are in my sig. Thanks

Do a search on High volume oil pump and you will be reading for days.

Or if you dont want to read for days the basic idea here is the high volume pump has the potential of running the stock oil pan dry. You are better off staying with stock or if you want to, get the high pressure spring and put it in the stock pump.

I put a stock style melling pump in my car during the build. It's been discussed that the high volume pump will require more power to turn, and it can possibly run the pan dry after extended high RPM use.

I got mine from GM. Youll have to use the search function if you want the part number... GM white oil pump spring.

Actually a Melling M-55A will work for you perfectly.

M55A

This is the pump I recomend. I start with this or a stock pump and work them over.
