Re: Mean exhaust

My True Duels aren't as loud as alot of you are saying. Mine sounds alittle louder then the loudmouths at idle, but then sounds off when you get on it. BUt it is very mellow when at speed, even quieter then my loudmouths.

Re: Mean exhaust

No doubt dude is telling the truth. That GMMG is nasty. Can't go that route go duals then if $$ isn't a issue.

By the way where can a GMMG be bought at?

Best bang for your buck is the hooker catback. You wont be dissapointed. If money is not any issue, then yes, the CMMG sounds great. For the price of it though you could not only have the hooker but aslo add some other go fast goodies to your ride.

With the Hooker exhaust, it's not as if the thing will rust out within a month or anything. A good friend of mine has a Mac catback exhaust, also non-stainless, and he's had it on his 02 Rustang GT about a month after he bought it back in '02. Still in tip-top shape, no rust yet, and we had some decent snowfall/salt on the roads since then.

But I think I have also heard that the stock z28 exhaust is stainless, so, yes, it begs the question, why go down in parts quality from what is stock?

Though my headers seem to be rusted through a bit...

I love that Hooker sound though (judging by ls1sounds.com clips)

Re: Mean exhaust

I am not at all saying the catback will rust out immediately, but for longevity, its not my top choice. I agree that dropping in material quality from stock is a questionable route. Not only salt and snow have an effect but also the water that is found in your exhaust is a problem causing the exhaust to rust from the inside out. Each to his own but at least step up from the flowmaster to something stainless. I have heard nearly all exhausts on late model f-body's and the best sounding one has been GMMG G-M-M-G no C in the damn name. Duals come in second, especially when considering lowered ride heigth, and carbon depositing on the underside of the car. The LM is loud as hell but also sounds like hell to me. I have always seen the exhaust sound of your car being its over all attitude. I just wanted mine to have the meanest but not most annoying attitude around.

Re: Mean exhaust

Yeah, I do for the most part agree with you Bersaglieri.

Here's a question though, not intended to steal thread, since you say you've heard nearly all the exhausts out there for the fbodys; I could not find any sound clips of the Stainless Works "offroad" exhaust system. I got my YearOne catalog the other day, price is cheap enough, and it looks like the make a stainless version according to their website:

93-95 LT1 Single Cat CA93-95SCOR $299.00 CNC mandrel bent Everlast 304 2 1/2" stainless. Designed to fit factory manifolds and shorty aftermarket headers using factory y-pipes. For off road use only-no catalytic converter.
Anybody, not just you in particular, Bersaglieri, heard either in real life or clips (link please?) of these exhaust?

to the person who knows anything about/has this exhaust system.

Thanks.

Re: Mean exhaust

Get me a link and I'll check it out. I think stainless works is advertising a GMMG copy-cat version through summit racing. But I think it is just as or more expensive than GMMG.

here is the link to their Camaro exhausts. no pics, no nothing, just text. Yeah one of the exhausts is around 800, I am referrin to the cheaper, loudmouth-style exhaust it seems. id imagine it sounds similar to the loudmouth with its specs.

http://www.stainlessworks.net/Camaro%201967-1981.htm

I'm just trying to confirm it.

Nice setup! Just one question. Are you running any type of crossover/equalization pipe?

The crossover is located in the parallel pipe section just ahead of
the rear axle. There is a 1.25" by 12" window between the two
pipes (see picture below). I have no idea how well this works, but
it's the best I could do given the system layout.

Re: Mean exhaust

I also agree with the true dual set up with the small race flows and X pipe. That set up sounds awesome!!

Re: Mean exhaust

my first mod was the GMMG catback. best system ive ever heard on and lt1 or ls1!!! here's a run down of my experience with the catback:

GMMG with manifolds-caused a slight stirring in my britches!
GMMG with BBK headers-again caused stirring in my britches and causes tingling sensations at WOT!!
GMMG with heads/cam-caused hair to raise up on neck, goosebumps, profuse drooling, and intense urge to rev at anything that moves just to watch them jump.
ALSO CAUSES:
senior citizens hearts to stop momentarily,
mustang owners to run and hide,
ricers to **** themselves,
exotic owners to sell there cars to buy fbodies so they can get the GMMG
harley owners to say "damm thats loud"
AND CAUSES GOD TO SAY "DAMN THAT'S LOUD!!!)

Re: Mean exhaust

I'm running coated Jet-Hot LT's, Hooker Y-pipe, and GMMG exhaust (no cats). It is by far the meanest sound you'll ever get. If you like it loud (as I do) you can't go wrong with headers and GMMG.
