Max ported heads and a STOCK cam? anyone ever do this?

I have tried to to do a cam 4 times and have failed 4 times spending loads of money with nothing to show. Bearing failure everytime, and BELIEVE ME, the latter 3 were done with the upmost care and profesionalism. I am cursed

so here what i got. a set of lt1 heads ported with:
2.02 and 1.6 valves
52 CC combustion chambers(11.5:1 compressure ration)
flow HONESTLT 275 @.600I and 214@.600 E

These heads were from my last motor that lost some mains. I am going to put my old 15k miles stock motor back in, but dont want a set of good $2500 heads to go to waist.

What do you think this would do on my car?
FYI, stock cam specs are... 205/208 dur .480''/.491'' on a 116 lsa (1.6 RR ratio). My heads flow right around 251 I/ 200 E CFM at that lift.

Basically my question is, would it add alot of power? or not? How much? the stock motor in question as of now(stock heads and cam) dynoed 315 RWHP and runs 12.98s at 109.

Man, sorry to hear about your problems.
Do you know exactly what caused the bearing failures?
Sorry for the O/T.... I'm just curious...

I dont know
first motor it was my first time, had help, used lots of oil and assmbly lubem kept it all clean. 15 mins later, spun a main. paid a frined to help me do all the bearings, 300 miles later of nice low RPM driving and the oil pressure slowly just dropped, spun 2 mains and a couple rods

new motor, i had some very very ecperienced people help. i was very concerned due to the last motor. this one was first a mix of a bad shortblock i bought from a boardmember( i got ripped) and also i wasn't using restrictors, so i mad have been pumping to much oil to the lift, not enough to the bottom end. eiter way, i dont have time of money to do the expensive trouble shoot nessessary to make it work

My buddy did it in a 6 speed car. 373 gears. Went 12.50s and dynoed 350 something. Car was super tame to drive, sounded stock, but pulled like a cammed car up top. Honestly, i almost wish i did heads before my cam, even though i would be down a little on power, would have been much more street friendly

Atjlar. Honestly just how friendly is your car to drive. I'm really considering the 847. I've got heads and have pulled 360.2 STD with a CC305. I've got the M6 with a Moser 4.11 setup. Really have been wanting a little more aggressive cam, but I don't want something thats a PITA to drive around town either. I would really be interested.

I am running pretty steep gears which helps the low end a bunch (4.33s). 410s should be good too.

As for drivability, its not too bad. I can pull ~24-25 mpg on the highway. It idles decently ok. My biggest beef is cam surge. 1400-1600 roms, if you back off the gas it will buck on you a little. If you accelerate through those rpms it is fine and perfectly smooth. I think once it gets finely tuned it will be a little better.

Anyways, i have driven many cammed m6 cars (hotcam, 306, 847, and custom 236/244 on 110) and this is my 2nd favorite. I LOVED the 236/244, but that was also with 456 gears and max effort heads so a little unfair to compare, not to mention it isnt the most street friendly thing. I Would go 847 again without hesitation.

try to get the low lift numbers up a bit. 27x @ .600 is great, but 251 @ .500 is a tad low. Not bad, but not super.. Since you won't be lifting the valves much, you need low valve lift flow.. which is mostly valve job and say .5" up the port.
