Max lift with 1.7 RRs?
That is why I don't understand the logic in going with the 1.7's when you can just get the right cam to begin with. I would think it would add more unnecessary stress to the valvetrain the higher the ratio you go. It seems like your building the setup around the 1.7 rockers.

either way 1.7's on an LT1 head are allot of stress on the valvtrain and I don't know how the factory head will do with 1.7's you might check on here to see if anyone else has even tried it. But hey someone has to be first right! good luck.
If you were leaving the cam alone, then I can see, but your not.

This is not intended for anyone in particular and I don't mean to sound mean guys but PLEASE STOP TELLING ME WHAT NOT TO DO IN REGARDS TO MY SETUP. I KNOW WHAT IS REQUIRED FOR THE INSTALL. STOP ASSuming that since I haven't said exactly what I'm going to do that I'm not going to do it.
I simply wanted to know max lift before i run into a problem.
I'm going to keep it under .600 lift. /thread.
I am NOT doing a cam anytime soon. I AM building the valvetrain around 1.7s.
1.7s have been installed on LT1s before. The previous owner of MY LT1 motor had 1.7s on it.

Ok I guess I just misread your posts. It seems as if you wanna know the what if factor (on 1.7's) even though your not camming it right now?

List your specs in a sig BTW ASSumer.
Yeah, I am GOING to do the 1.7s and I want to know for down the road (probably WAY down the road) what kind of cam I can do with the 1.7s without pistons touching valves.

Depends on what year cam...
92 LT1 205/207 @ 0.050" .451"/.450" Lift, LSA 117
93-95 LT1 202/207 @ 0.050" .450"/.460" Lift, LSA 116
96 LT1 200/207 @ 0.050" .447"/.459" LSA 117
96 LT4 203/210 @ 0.050" .475"/.479" LSA 115

1.7's are no problem anytime.
If ya don't want the valves to hit- -clearance the piston valve reliefs now for your new cam, measure it and then you know what lobe lift ya can run with ANY ratio.
I run 1.8's with a .429 lobe lift=.772 lift. Not stock heads but stock can be used. Longer valves and bigger dia. springs to take the lift.
