Question Which Mass Air Flow Sensor To Buy

Hey guys new member here. I don't have a camaro but I'm in the process of putting a 94 z28 lt1 in a chevy 4x4 pickup. The motor didn't have a maf so I'm going to have to buy one. I'm undecided on whether to buy a stock replacement or to get something like a granatelli. Anyone got any comments on the this maf or any other brands they reccomend. I've heard horsepower gains of up to 15-20 at the rear wheel so sounds good but do you have to program the computer diff for this mod. I haven't had the computer programmed yet but the engine is stock with the emissions removed. Thanks for all your help

Ignore any source that tells you to buy an aftermarket MAF, a stocker is the right choice.

The magazine articles and crap that make claims like 20hp are outright LIES to make advertizers happy. The slight potential gains they can have are short term as the pcm learns what it is doing and corrects.
Use a stock MAF and reprogramming the computer offers much more gains that are permanent.

^^^^Agree, unless a stocker is going to cost more than an aftermarket (ie. dealer only) than go for cost effectiveness.

I can't see a stocker costing any more than the $320 a Granitelli costs. Browse the for sale forums, you might find a used one in good condition real cheap.

Stick with the stocker, a good condition used one usually goes for about 50 bucks.

The guy who will tune the car says to change out my granatelli for a stock one. I have heard this from some of the smartest people on here.

DO NOT go changing the ends on the MAF. Look at the threads on descreening as they have explainations of how the MAF functions and once you understand that you will understand why changing the interior dimensions atall is such a very bad idea.

I’m doing some research/homework on the Z06 meter now. I think I will be going with one, along with some changes to the intake track and manifold. I will be getting the car dyno tuned when all is said and done, which will be the key to making it work. There are a few people here that are running one, but it seems that they aren’t revealing any info on what it takes to make it work.

You just need the adjusted MAF tables for the Z06 maf programmed into the computer I think...

I disagree. You motor will not explode and the tires will not fall off. I would stay clear of Granatelli. It is a waste of money. IMO

What do you disagree with? Are you saying that putting new MAF ends will NOT affect the proper reading?
