Question Mass Air..96 caprice to 97 Formula?

The shop just called and said all my problems where from a bad mass air and O2,s. I didnt know they could make my car act so bad. but anyways will an MAF from a lt1 96 Caprice work on my car? Is it any better or worse then the OEM one? Cause i get it for free

If you put the Caprice complete MAF on there you will have problems as it is 3.25" vs 3.5" for your stock MAF, HOWEVER you can just change out the sensor portion of the MAF. I've been told that the middle sensor portion is the same for all the LT1 MAF's.

Hope that helps!

Unscrew the allen head bolts that hold the metal ends onto the black sensor on both MAF's. Swap the black sensor portion to your Fbody MAF ends. Reinstall and tighten the allen head bolts.
Takes about 2 minutes.

The inner parts are the same but you'll probably have to do a little bit of hacking to get it to fit. I helped a guy at work put a ported F-bod housing into his Caprice, and we had to cut some tabs off the inner part to get it to fit flush against the new housing.

On a side note, Mike when you plan on doing those valve springs? Just give me a few days notice, so I don't plan anything else and we could probably get that knocked out over a weekend.

I will be going to Firebird Friday night with my new cutouts opened up. Hoping for a 12.1 or 11.99 on juice.
