Manualy cleaning injectors question?

ok i read somewhere that i should manually clean my injectors.. i've already ran a couple acdelco KLEEN bottles through the system and it smoked quite a bit.. that was a lil while ago. If i manually take the injectors out and clean them with carb cleaner- do i have to do anything before actually removing the injectors... any fuel pressure related precautions?

thanksya!

Re: Manualy cleaning injectors question?

best bet is to do it after the car has been sitting awhile (overnight) then the pressure should have bled off by then. if this is not an option, then yes, you need to releive the pressure, i do it by pressing down on the schrader valve that is on the fuel rail. about the only other hint is to put a little bit of oil on the o rings when reinstalling them in the fuel rail, makes the job much much easier
