Making parking light dinger softer

I want to make the parking light "dinger" about half the volume it is right now. I tried sticking some sound deadener I had laying around over the speaker, but it didn't help significantly. Is there anything I can do to make it softer? (Like putting a resistor inline somewhere...)

If you unplug the dinger, there is a small, round, metal disk attached. Remove the disk and plug the dinger back in. It'll still ding, but be much quieter.

OMG, YOU'RE THE MAN! I took apart the brown box carefully and tried completely taking out the metal disc, but it was too quiet for my taste. Instead, I put the metal disc back in and cut out a circle of manila folder to put between the speaker and disc, which gives it a nice medium volume. Now my alarm's "silent" arm truly is silent from the outside! Thanks so much Fred!

No Prob!

I figured it out a few years ago. I was sick of the dinging. I took my dinger out, and set the disk on the windshield, not thinking anything about it. Wouldn't you know, the stupid thing slid down under the cowl, disappearing forever.
