?? on main stud girdles
Will any SBC main stud girdle work in our LT1's, or do you have to have one made specifically for it. I was looking around the net, and couldn't really come up with any info. I found some for a SBC, but no info if it will work on the LT1.
Re: ?? on main stud girdles
I think those are more useful on SOME other motors, not so much on ours. Once pushing a lot of power then splayed 4 bolt mains can be a good upgrade, but not necessary till you are making well above average power. There are heads/cam cars running arround reliably with 400 at the wheels on stock shortblocks with 2 bolt mains not even studded.
Re: ?? on main stud girdles
Any small block chevy girdle will work as long as it will fit with whatever oil pan you choose. Necesity depends on HP level and RPM range. Main advantage is anti-cap walk.
Re: ?? on main stud girdles
At 450rw even with it just being a daily driver I would drop the extra coin, because it is not that much to have the peace of mind. You will need to have the line-hone re-checked if it has already been done with the studs as it can change the main housing bore dimensions.
Re: ?? on main stud girdles
If ya are going to make any HP ya gonna need RPM's and that is where the girdle will shine.
Cap walk on these blocks is bad in the upper HP's, even with a factory 4 bolt there is some.
