Would i be able to just rebuild the shortblock i got? What would be needed other then the bearings and all the gaskets?
any machining? or anything? it is not knocking or ticking just like no oil pressure i got 3 psi @ idle? (lol)

 

I would double check it with a mechanical gauge before you do anything. Did you cut your oil filter to determine it was a bearing? As long as the bearing was not spun(doesnt sound like it was), you might be able to get away with just a polish and new bearings. If you have the factory oil cooler I would check that as well.

 

yea it was checked w/ a mechanical guage; it was 3psi @ idle when the car was hot; and about 20 psi when cold @ idle..

my mechanic determined it was the bearing... So is it a hard rebuild? whats the cost of a polish?

 

Sorry to hear that. I spun 3 main bearings about a year ago and its no fun.

 

Do you have a oil cooler? I would pull that to eliminate that possiblity. Mine went out and did the samething, but took out the upper half of the motor, lifters and cam. How did your machanic determine it was a bearing?

 

i replaced the oil sending unit and i do not have an oil cooler
He used a mechanic oil pressure guage and thats how he determinded the problem
