Magnaflow sound w/o magnaflow exhaust?

If I had true duals, could I get the sound of a magnaflow exhaust by just buying a magnaflow muffler? Or should I buy the entire setup to get the full sound?

what exactly are you asking? With a true dual setup from an X pipe, the sound will be completely different than any catback for a stock Y pipe setup.

screw true duals. they arny worth the money just get the magnaflow catback and you will be happy. Not loud enough? Throw on a high flow cat and y-pipe/headers. I have a mag catback w/ stock everything else & a CAI, its pretty loud, has a different tone on WOT too.

That would be cheaper, and I really like the sound. But if I had just a stock exhaust, would a magnaflow muffler make my stock exhaust sound like a magnaflow exhaust?

It prolly would but it wouldnt be as loud. My mag catback has 3" piping and 2 1/2" dual exhaust w/ 3 1/2 inch tips.

I don't know what the mag. cat back sounds like but I love the sound of my true duals w/ 2 bullet style magnaflows.

Re: Magnaflow sound w/o magnaflow exhaust?

A good 3 inch system system with ORY or hi-flows and madrel bends will perform near that of a true dual system. With the true dual, you may gain a better exhaust note, but will most likely lose ground clearance - and to go over the axle is costly, so most don't....however, emissions may then be suspicious... The shop that welded my system together hates doing true duals on 4th gens, even though they are VERY capable of doing so with experience and in-house custom mandrel bending. Hearing a man whos done exhausts for almost 30 years feel this way helped me make my decision quick. However, this doesn't mean I wouldnt take true duals...just given my circumstances with emissions, lack of 500 hp, etc.......this seemed what was best.
