I replaced a blowmaster with the magnaflow and am very pleased. I can actually have a conversation with someone in the car while I'm driving. Outside the car it sounds great

Re: magnaflow or loudmouth

I'm a borla guy myself. The loudmouth is just too loud for my taste. plus there was alot of rust on my friends LS1 system that was only a few yrs old..

I would choose the magna flow over the loudmouth

Re: magnaflow or loudmouth

I have a magnaflow , but it seems to be raspy under wot .Maybe its because i removed my cats. My buddy has a flowmaster on his 94 formula, sounds amazing compared to mine. But then again thats why god created a cut-out, get a muffler thats not too loud, then for back up add a cut-out when you wanna go nuts.

Re: magnaflow or loudmouth

It seems that only a select few like the loudmouth due to how loud and raspy it is. So, I would suggest the magnaflow or the hooker catback would be another good choice.

Re: magnaflow or loudmouth

Even though I voted for Magnaflow, you should ultimately decide on the exhaust that sounds the best to YOU. Exhaust polls are pretty much the same as "Coke or Pepsi?" polls. Just because 100 people all said they liked Coke better doesn't automatically mean you're gonna like it too.

You can hear soundclips for both systems here: http://www.ls1sounds.com/

That's what helped me decide on mine.

Dont forget thier is a LoudMouth 2 now that I think is quieter and less raspier.

"S*****Racing" (cant advertise on here but you can figure it out) has some decent prices on the kits.

Re: magnaflow or loudmouth

I actually got rid of my Magnaflow for a LoudMouth II. My Magnaflow was very raspy under load(I also have cats removed). I couldn't imagine a LoudMouth I. The Loud Mouth II sounds much much better, only downside is, my cam lope pretty much disappeared at idle where the MF made my car sound like I had a bigger cam then the 224/230.

Re: magnaflow or loudmouth

I debated a long time on the very question you are asking. My buddy was having the same problem trying to figure out what he wanted between teh two as well. I ended up going with the Magnaflow because I got a better price on it, and my buddy ended up getting the Loudmouth. The Magnaflow sounds very good, it has a great tone to it, and it is not too loud. The Loudmouth is also good sounding, but it is quite a bit louder than mine, and if you have an auto, it might be a little annoying on the highway. The Loudmouth also has a lower toned grunt sound, when compared to the Magnaflow. I already have a very loud F-body (the Z in my sig), so I am kinda glad I went with the less loud Magnaflow for my Formula. But if you like loud, go Loudmouth. Both will give you the pretty much the same power gain. It all depends on what you are looking for.

Re: magnaflow or loudmouth

As may have been mentioned above - this will depend a lot on future mods (e.g. headers) you may have in mind. A lot love LM on a stock system; a lot hate it with headers. Magnaflow with a cutout I say for now - then you'll have some variation at least, since SLP LM can be compared to a cutout (by that I mean you can't get rid of the rasp/loudness if you want to - cap cutout w/o SLP LM and you can tone it down).

Re: magnaflow or loudmouth

I picked the Magnaflow...I have a Magnaflow cat-back on my Silverado. I have heard one too many LM on Fbodies and I have heard the Magnaflow on a Mustang and a Trans Am...and it just sounds soo good.

Re: magnaflow or loudmouth

are you talking about the 3 inch stainless steel magnaflow? I am looking into it and I am following this very closely. I want a nice street mannered catback, and I will have a 3 inch electric cutout too for performance. So for the catback I want a really nice flowing one that isn't really obnoxiously loud but more a mellow deep nice sound.

loudmouth and Magnaflow can't even be compared--notice which one I capitalized.
