Magnaflow Catback
Magnaflow Catback
Hey 4th gen brothas
I have an 84 Z
I want to get the 93-97 5.7 Magnaflow cat-back. I love the 3.5 tips and it is pretty cheap. Do you guys know what it sounds like on a stock Z? How is the sound at idle and stuff? Thanks bros
Mike

I've had mine since i've owned the car. (car is for the most part stock). I love the way it sounds. Not really loud. Kinda deep. I get a lot of complaments on it too. Not really a track guy, so i can't give you numbers. But you can feel a difference when you put it on.
yeah i installed the maganflow system on my Z28 about 500 miles ago. I really like the sound becuase its deep and it really opens up when you jump on it. Its kinda quiet at idle, but that is what i want. My car i stock with just a CAI and the maganflow. I would reccomend this exhaust to anyone.
I just bought this catback a couple days ago. Just installed it yesterday. Tips are 3.5" polished stainless steel 95% of the way back. Once they hit the muffler they shrink a tad and haven't been polished. It sounds... well... nice. Idle is nice and quiet, cruising is no problem, and when you rev the engine it REALLY wakes up. Dyno proven 14rwhp and 18rwtq over stock.
I think you'll be impressed. If you like a low, mellow rumble at cruise but want the muscular sound at WOT, this is the catback for you. Besides that, you can buy it brand new from performance curve or performance peddler for $280 shipped. (both companies have stores on ebay - try searching ebay for "magnaflow camaro" and see if it comes up). That's not bad for an entire stainless system - I can't even find the hooker (aluminized) for cheaper than that. I think it's a really nice, quality setup and I love the way it sounds.
EDIT: To answer your question, the tips are slashed, but not as dramatically as Corsa tips. Just a hair less than the Corsa tips if I'm correct.

yeah one of the reason I like the catback is that it is stainless steel. The 3.5 tips are nice too
Are they slash cut though? Its hard to tell in the pics. Yeah I also found them on ebay. They are pretty cheap! I also plan on getting a qtec cutout so if its too quiet I can just flip the switch

I edited my post, but just to make sure you read it, I'll reply once more... The tips are slashed a bit at the end. The corsa appears slashed at almost a 45 degree angle, I'd say the magnaflow tips are slashed at around 60 degrees or so.
Another satisfied customer of the Magnaflow Catback here! I absolutely love it! The polished stainless steel tips and polished stainless steel muffler are awesome looking when on the car! For $280 shipped, this was the best money spent so far!!!
