Question Magnaflow or Borla?

Well I have decided I am getting a new exhaust and FIPK for the Z but I am having a hard time deciding on which catback to go with. I like the looks of the borla and all but I wasnt sure about sound and air flow. I figured some people have had some experiance with these so any input would be appreciated!

Re: Magnaflow or Borla?

Got the Magnaflow and love it. Sounds great, stainless and cheap. Why pay double for the same thing. They both use straight through mufflers the only difference is the BOrla has the plates for the dump.

Re: Magnaflow or Borla?

Ive had both. If you're rich, get the Borla. Youll love it. If your on a budget, try to find a used Borla system like I did or just go with the Magnaflow. Both are great systems, and I dont think youll be disappointed either way you go. The money saved can be put towards a set of headers.

Not Rich but got the Borla; wouldn't have it any other way. When I install the Borla from stock it was a day and nite difference. I have had mine 5yr no rust.

Re: Magnaflow or Borla?

Borla sounds awesome on an LT1, I was never a fan of the Magnaflow sound on the LT1 but it's definitely cheaper. If you don't need an SS catback also check out the hooker.

Re: Magnaflow or Borla?

I picked up a used Borla for about 350 shipped, looked almost new. Also added a DMH E-Borla cutout (puts a smile on my face everytime I drive the car--great mod).......

Re: Magnaflow or Borla?

I think both systems sound great until you put headers on. Then the Borla easily loses.

Another vote for magnaflow

DMH is a sponsor of this board--check out group purchases, I think they're trying to start one now. It's a good product and Dave is great to work with.....

Re: Magnaflow or Borla?

first of all, borla is hands down the best sounding cat back for f bodies.
2nd of all, why do people say borla sounds like a cut out?
cuz outs are DEEP and sound like well, a car without a muffler.
borla for 1 isn't a deep sounding exhaust, but has a good tone.

Re: Magnaflow or Borla?

even though I bought mine with the Borla on it, I have heard an LT1 with a Magnaflow and I would say go with the Borla if you can afford it. if not the Magnaflow is still really good.
