MAF story

Hi everyone, i have been having some performance issues with my car since i did the cam swap. I didn't have any track numbers to prove this but it just didn't seem to be running right. After doing a bunch of searching, i put a multi meter on my MAF. The frequency at idle was 1.4kHz, i have read that it should be somewhere just above 2kHz. My MAF was also de-screened, i don't know how much this had to do with the problem, but i decided to get a unmolested MAF. It finally arrived today and i slapped it on. Frequency at idle is now 2.2kHz, and the seat of the pants increase in power was amazing. Throttle response has improved a lot as well. Just thought that i would share my MAF expierence with everyone. (I am also hoping that this will improve my MPG as i am currently getting about 11MPG)

Re: MAF story

Have you had the car tuned? A tuner can compensate for the lower frequency and would have made the run fine with the MAF sensor you already had.

Re: MAF story

Yah, it was a email tune from Ion. I didn't know about the problem at the time of the tune. I picked up the MAF used just to see if it made a difference so it cost me the same as a re-tune to get the maf.

Re: MAF story

I bet the tune you received was for a STOCK MAF sensor then. That makes sense. Congrats.
