MAF circuit malfunction, must have help, PLEASE!!!!!!!!
Exact problem:
Car has rough idle, but does'nt vary in rpm at idle, and gets bad gas mlg, and has a slight miss throughout the powerband thats the worst between 1000-1500.
Awhile ago when my car still had stock airfilter and box, i started my car up in a heavy rain and drove a couple miles and the SES light came on, so i took it to get scanned @ autozone and it said either p101 or p 010 MAF circuit malfunction. So of course I cleaned the connections and checked the wires and they were good, so I put it back and on the way home it went off and did come back on for 15k mi.
Recently, I cleaned my MAF and noticed a instant difference and gas mlg and response, then slowly got worse and the miss has better getting worse too.
So today I was driving and after about 25mi the SES light comes on out of nowhere, so I go straight to autozone, about 25mi away, and it says the same thing it did before. So out of theory i unpluged it and started it up and it ran the same as it has been, with the same miss and everthing, but i didnt drive it, just idled it.
Anwayz, my question is, could a faulty MAF cause the missing problem and everything? Does anyone have experience with this code?
One more question, my friend has a 95 3.4v6 firebird, can I use his MAF to test with?
thanks for all the help

How do you guys cars run without the MAF plugged in. I understand that it should run rough, its missing an important part of the vehicle, but it runs exactly the same it seems, with or without it. But the SES light is off again now.
the car should run pretty close to the same with or w/o the MAF sensor plugged in unless the MAF is really messed up. I had a bad connection in mine which would cause it to lose contact with the MAF and throw an SES light. when this happened it was pretty obvious since the car would nearly die on me and it bucked really hard. i rebuilt the connector and never had a problem since.
I did not know that the MAP sensor was serviceable? What kind of contact surface does is have? I will defenetely try that, as I have seen a few posts about the results of a bad MAP. Does the sensor have a gasket underneath?
You can pull the map off and put it back on with just a screwdriver. Theres a rubber nipple seal thing on the end, but it shouldnt break or anything when you take it out.
I'm not sure how effective spraying electronic cleaner down the map is... didn't do a hell of a lot for me, but then again i still havent found out whats wrong with my car, the map was probably just fine.
