MadZ/28 Tune: For those Running it...

Ok, i now have ordered a tune package from Mad Z/28, i've heard nothing but good things, and am anxieous to install it. So, for those who already run on a tune from Ion, on a scale of 1(worst) - 5(best), how would you rate a Mad Z/28 Tune overall? If you would vote and then express your feelings why you picked the number you did, it would be helpful! THANKS!

Re: MadZ/28 Tune: For those Running it...

the tune was awesome...in the beginning. but i've added a few things and would like to dyno tune for the specifics. i'd also like to change the injector flow for better economy at low rpms. i'd have to do this myself so now i'm saving for lt1 edit or some other program.

i have no problems with the tune that madwolf gave me. it's great for a mail order tune but to get the best out of it you'll have to dig deeper than he can because of the unique qualities of YOUR motor.

I voted "5" because there was not a "I want to see results" options, so ignore one vote for 5.

Re: MadZ/28 Tune: For those Running it...

I voted for #5.

I had my car professionally dyno tuned paid $400 to get it tuned for the 847 cam was very unhappy with the results, Car wouldn't start right up, alot of cam surge & down on power compared to the norm. I was able to drive out to ion's place have him upload a tune for me, drive around the neighborhood to make sure i was happy all for $50 bucks. All my previous complaints were fixed the car started right up cam surge was almost gone and i picked up 22hp & 14tq with a uploaded "Mail order Tune" over a so called "professional" dyno tune! Since there was no way to prove the car wasent dyno tuned i couldn't do anything about it so i have left all my tuning to ion he has always been upfront & honest with me about my tunes including the one's he didn't do.

I voted a 4. The tune was pretty good, im assuming. When i went to dyno it they said the a/f was dead on (they didnt seem to know how to dyno a car though) It was worth the $100. I have thrown away alot more money in a car for a lot less before.

So a perfect tune and a good bang for the buck rates a 4. What would it take to get a 5?

I gave a 3. My car ran rich hell after the tune. Performance gains notable, but she ran rich and backfired.

Definitely a 5, for the money that a tune costs, it is probably one of the better bang for the buck mods.

helped my car out quite a bit, obvious power gain, fan settings, idle setting, more RPM, very worth the money

Re: MadZ/28 Tune: For those Running it...

I gave a 5......had my car dynoed before and after. before i was running extremely rich and dynoed at 212hp 254lb/ft....after the tune i had it dynoed at 248 hp and 275 lb/ft...thats 36hp and 21lb/ft for a little over what? 150$? Ion was able to level off my A/F ratio and keep it where it was supposed to be through out the whole rpm range.

I also gave it a 5 -

With my tune, I too didn't know what to expect. I wasn't having any problems beforehand, but I wanted to see what the hype was about. The install took less than ten minutes, and I immediately felt a difference in my throttle response. I took it at WOT down an empty street and was getting thrown back with every gear change (A4), and my car runs reasonable cooler.

Re: MadZ/28 Tune: For those Running it...

When you think about it, this thread won't help much unless people who vote posted thier mods. If 15 people with basic bolt on's post 5's and guys with heads and cams that require more extensive tuning, post things like 1,2's, and 3's.... it can be missleading.
