Mac Prices

On macperformance.com their dual cat header system is like $750 I believe (includes headers and cats, but not catback). On another website I found it was around 680...I told my friend who has an LS1 that id be payin about 700 for the headers with the cats and he was saying how extremely expensive that was. Are these prices normal?
Thanks
Bill

Re: Mac Prices

The prices are way high for mac headers/y-pipe. I payed $43x.xx shipped for mine which came with a y-pipe but not cats. Paying that much is outrageous for headers. I feel ripped off with mine because now I see I could have picked up a set of ceramic coated pacesetter LT's for about the same price. For that price you could get LT's and have some sort of dual cat y-pipe made and maybe have a few bucks left over.

With cats, the $680 is a decent price. Don't know about F-bodies, but C5 LTs with hi-flow cats run 1200-1800.

Re: Mac Prices

Do you have emmisions where you live? If not, buy the '94-'95 style header. That's what I did. They are in the low $400 range uncoated, and about $560 shipped, coated from jet-hot. If you are going to do a catback at the same time, you would just buy a '94-'95 style catback as well. Then all you need to do is either put a cat, or a straight pipe, or a bullet muffler between the y-pipe and catback. That's the setup I have. You could probably find some old posts of mine about this setup. I don't have emmisions, so it worked great for me.

Yup, emissions are being enforced around here.
