Question MAC Mids or PACESETTER shorties(mids)? Has to be emissions legal!

As the Title says, What is the better header of these 2? Peformance gains? Spark plug access? Install not really a problem since motor is comming out of car 1st! ANY input would be greatly appreciated!

Haven't seen much about the Pacesetter mids, but the MAC's are great. Plug access is the best of all, hands down. I love mine. I got them Jet Hot coated, and they still look great after a couple of years. I gained 30 rwhp with the MAC mids and Hooker catback. Sounds awesome too.

The funny thing is, I've really only know about the MAC's too. I'm hopping for some input on the Pacesetters. I searched, but all the searchs were about the LT's. I had MAC's on my 95 Z and I really liked them, but they are alot more then the Pacesetters. Maybe there's a reason for the price difference! LOL

I'm on a REAL tight budget, so if the Pacesetters are Decent, they will get the nod! As long as they're better then the stock manifolds! LOL

I would just go with the Pacesetter LT's for $285.99 and they have egr hookups etc and get some high flow cats.

I WISH! LOL New Jersey has some of the toughest emissions laws in the country, 2nd only to CA. They CHECK the cars! If you can't give them a C.A.R.B #, forget it! I know the LT's are NOT emissions legal. I REALLY wish they were! Stupid tree huggers! LOL J/K I like trees too!

If you have another vehicle and don't mind swapping headers every two years, then get the long tubes and switch over to the cheapo shorties or the stockers during your test.

That's what I'm doing and it seems to work. Header install every 2 years isn't really that big of a deal to me because I have a few other options when it comes to driving another car. If you don't have this option then go with the best header you can afford. I have the Pacesetter shorties on my 99' Silverado and the buttmeter feels like they helped.

I have another car, but that's alot to go through every 2 years! LOL Plus, that's twice the price! LOL Not a bad idea if you have the means and the "talent" to do it. I have neither at the moment! I think I'll give the PaceSetters a shot unless I hear something real bad about them. They HAVE to flow better then stock manifolds and have somewhat better plug access then stock! LOL

you need to find a shop that will overlook long tube headers. i've never had a smog station do a visual inspection before and i live in CA. you just gotta go to the right places. start with a "pretest" in a neighboring lower income city and see if they give you a hard time. I doubt they will. pretests are like 30 bucks in CA.

I remember reading on this board that Pacesetter shorties have horrible plug access, and i think you have to remove or loosen one of the headers to get the plug (s) out.

<--has pacesetter mids...if the mac's give access to 2 plugs get them over the pacesetters

with a stock lt1 i can do plugs in an hour and a half...with the pacesetters they MUST be unbolted to even dream of pulling a plug boot let alone getting a socket on one
