Mac headers question...

I was going through all the parts in my set and I found the gaskets, they look copper! Maybe I'm wrong but aren't copper ones high priced, I can't imagine them being that. I got them from Jet Hot. Any ideas? Thanks!

I got paper with mine but some people get coppper. I'd suggest getting Felpros, my coppers leaked the first week.

If they leaked then the header bolts weren't tightened enough.

They are as tight as they're getting. Its only in 2 spots, real small but the tick is annoying.

Yes, they are copper gaskets. Decent quality too. Mine came with copper ones from Jet-Hot also, but they leaked a tiny bit so I got other header gaskets.(Mr. Gasket Ultraseals). They don't leak at all.

Yeah I think I will use the copper ones, at least give them a try. Should I use some hi-temp sealer on them?

If you don't mind my asking how much did they run you and do they have all the emissions hook-ups? Also since you got them from Jet-Hot I am guessing the headers have their coating and not that grey stuff?

I recently contacted Jet-Hot about the MAC headers for 95-97 dual cat cars (PART # TF3597). This is the reply I got :

I can offer the Mac TF3597, all fully coated in&out with the Jet Hot
sterling silver finish, for $957.65+s&h. Add $20 for the flat black, blue or grey finish. The parts are shipped from the Mississippi plant. Please feel free to call or email with any questions.

I don't know what he is charging for other years, give him a call or send him an e-mail @ chris@jet-hot.com.

People generally buy the '94-'95 style MAC headers and put them on the '96-'97 LT1's. That's what I did. The only change is the need to delete the rear O2 sensors in the exhaust, and a couple small exhaust pieces to hook it up to your '96-'97 catabck.

The '94-'95 style Jet-Hot coated MAC headers & Y-pipe, are about $560 shipped.

stereomandan, can you send me a list of all the parts that you needed please? I am about to do that very thing and go to a single cat conversion.

I thought I sent you a PM with all the info. I hope it didn't get lost in the system!
