Mac Headers And Possible Overheating Probs????
Re: Mac Headers And Possible Overheating Probs????
I've run them, really and truely I saw lower temps after swapping the headers. But realistically, headers shouldn't affect your engine temp at all, only your underhood temps should go down. I don't think your problem is directly affected by the headers.. Check your coolant levels and rebleed the coolant system.
The only remote possiblity could be a clogged cat if you have the street legal y-pipe.

to Eastla, no i wasnt saying i have overheating probs because i have not purchased the dual cat headers yet, ive just been told they are a bad choice because they cause overheating due to the driver side pipes are looped so high and close to the valve cover.

And yes, they are bundled (looped) really close to the valve cover. However I've not heard nor experienced anything along the lines of overheating using them. They did not provide any increase in HP or TQ over a stock y-pipe with gutted cats. I think they (MAC) rushed them out the door, they could have done so much better.
