M6 tranny fliud.......synthetic????
M6 tranny fliud.......synthetic????
Ok, brents guide says use Mobil 1 synthetic ATF for the M6.
But i was just searching the board and found that many people say do not use synthetic in a M6 tranny.
So what gives, synthetic or non-synthetic in the T-56???????

Yeah you are 'supposed' to run only the dextron fluid, but if the part number on the mobil 1 / other fluids states that it will replace or be at least equivalent to the dextron fluid then you more then likely would be fine.
I changed mine when I got the car, to Mobil 1 full synthetic, had it in the tranny for roughly 30k miles (2 changes), car had decent amount of abuse put it in, went to the track quite a few times for the first two years, then now for the last year I have taken easy with it.
I now changed it to BG synchroshift 2 fluid, its a full synthetic fluid that is as equally good as the GM synchromesh you can buy from the dealer, and the Talon DSM guys swear by the stuff helping their trannys stay quieter, and shift easier.
I myself have a talon, and ran it in there and figured if it worked that well for that car, it should do well in my m6.
I have had it in the car for roughly 2k miles now and no problems, shifts fine, no noise... So theres my story.

i have ran the maxlife without any problems. right now i am running the honda atf with good success. you will either need to add it in the check level hole or you can remove the shifter in your car and add it from the top.
DO NOT USE SYNTHETIC PLAIN AND SIMPLE!!!!
yes it will work but the tranny will not shift nerly as good as if u just used regular non synthetic! trust me im a BIG fan of putting in whatevers best no matter how much it costs! but as i did researching back in the day and found that the reason that you SHOULDNT use synthetic is cause the syncros WORK ON FRICTION! and synthetic is a FRICTION MODIFIER!!! so basically youd be making the syncros work against themselves
just use regular tranny fluid and change it like every 10k miles! ive got 140K miles on my m6 and have pulled PELENTY of low ten sec passes at the track and have not had to rebuild it yet
