AS&M Slip Fit Question

Just got my AS&M headers in today. The quality looks awesome!! Anyways, how tight is the slip fit supposed to be? On mine, the primary goes in rather easily and can rotate freely. Is there anything I can do to make sure it seals up when I put them on?

Re: AS&M Slip Fit Question

When you put the supplied clamp on it ,it will be tight, put anti-sieze on joint to get it out easy again.
If clamp don't tighten it, grind the 90* tab on the end a slight ammount to make it tighter.

Re: AS&M Slip Fit Question

I bought them used so I don't have the supplied clamp. Would it just be a regular U clamp like used on slip fit exhaust systems? How about like a band clamp?

Also, does anyone know offhand what size fitting I will need for the '96 AIR to work on a '94/'95 AIR fitting?

Re: AS&M Slip Fit Question

Call AS&M and get the stuff you need. They are in Arizona and have what you need on hand.

It is not a regular clamp.

Re: AS&M Slip Fit Question

And when you say loose fit, do you mean it can wiggle around, and basically turn freely?

Re: AS&M Slip Fit Question

Mine didn't have any clamp. The fit was actually quite snug and I had a time getting it in all the way. Never leaked a bit.
