AS&M headers w/Dual cats - help me price things

I'm trying to price my future headers. I've pretty much decided to go with AS&M single-cat headers, with a random tech dual cat y-pipe. I have made this decision because:
- it will be fully emissions legal for my 97
- large primarys vs other shorty/midlength headers
- ground clearence
- I don't plan on putting enough power down where true LTs will make a big difference over the AS&Ms
- good reviews on this combination

So I know this is going to cost a bit more money then say going with Pacesetter LTs, but i gotta make sacrifices I guess.

My question is would it be worth it to buy the package from thunder that comes with everything I need, or just piece things together? This is what I've come up with:

AS&M headers - $750
Random tech y-pipe - $570
Stage 8 bolts (header & collector) - $60
gaskets (header & collector) - $20
o2 extentions - $35
S-pipe (to mate the y-pipe with the cat-back) - $65
New dip stick - ?
GM check valve adapter - ?

That puts me over $1,500 not including shipping.

The package from thunder comes with everything and is priced at $1460 (w/o shipping)

So is the package a good deal? or am i pricing things wrong?

If you're willing to spend that much money on headers, then ya, go with the Thunder kit.

If you are going from 2 cats to one cat are you still going to be legal?

Are AS&M headers 50 state legal?

Are these shorties? If so, why would you want to spend all that money on AS&Ms when you could get Stainless SLPs for less money, i.e., how much of a performance difference are you expecting by spending all that $$ on shorties?

Just curious.

I don't want shorties, I see these midlength headers as an alternative to LTs. They have the same size primarys as LTs, and have shown to flow the same untill you get up towards 400-500hp. But they don't have any of the downfalls of LTs (ground clearence, failing visual emissions checks)

I am not going to 1 cat, the single cat AS&Ms match up with Random Tech's dual cat y-pipe, and the cats stay in the same place, so they're legal
