Not True.....
The finish work and QC are done by the same people and equipment, to the same standards.

The material is true 4340, documented in China, and sampled at Callies. The cost reduction is due to lower labor costs during forging and rough machining.

Yes the $500 Mahle can take a 150hp shot of nitrous. I've been hitting my flat top Mahle with 175hp nitrous in a 383 stroker for a few years now and the motor is still as strong as day one, (seems to be even stronger actually).

Thanks Karl, and you too, maro z28.

The Mahle pistons are absolutely sweet.

I thought the stock LT1 pistons could take 150 whats the big deal? I figured with a forged piston they would be able to take a little larger hit. I by no means bought a nitrous specific piston, but thought that the option was there if i wanted to do over 150. I looked in another thread, and was told that the metal makeup is good for relability, but not so much a nitrous specific piston.

So what is great about the mahle pistons, if they dont really like nitrous?

If my intention is FI, should I get more dished pistons for lower compression than if I was gonna stay NA and run higher compression?

Normally on FI applications, you would run a lower CR. How low depends on the level of boost you plan on using.
