Lucas Oil --- Good or Bad?
Lucas Oil --- Good or Bad?
Normally people see "additives" as bad things, at least people with some knowledge. Examples such as fuel injector cleaner or engine oil stop leak....
Anyway....anyone ever see Lucas Oil? You can use that stuff in rear ends or crankcases, so it says. Anyone ever use it? I used a half quart in my last oil change, and I recently changed my oil (to pure mobil 1 again) and I noticed that without hte lucas oil the car ran much better at cold temps. I do have a quart of lucas oil in my rear end...anyone think I should dump it?

I made a post on here a couple weeks ago asking about the Lucas Oil stabilzer. Was TOLD NOT TO USE IT IN THE MOTOR. I wonder about the stuff I used in my manual tranny though? It wasnt the oil addivitive.....
alright....well i am have been using the Lucas Oil for a while now. And i think the test is full of crap. If the oil looks like its show on the pics...why does it LOOK PERFECTLY NORMAL when i look at the dipstick after driving the car? how come it doesnt come out like that from the oil pan when i change my oil RIGHT AFTER driving....

hmm.
well i said my car ran a little rough in cold startups with the lucas oil in the crank, and when i went to pure mobil-1 it ran tons better. Maybe you don't notice it because in Georgia you don't have to endure the bitter cold of winter (near 0 degree temperatures)?

it ran rough until the car warmed up. *shrug*
not rough rough, but the engine/car would vibrate some until the car warmed up...went back to straight mobil-1 and it worked fine.

Same here i think that test is bull****, I have used lucas in my motor and rear and also my tranz for over a year now with no problems. My oil never looked like that when checking it after/while the car was running. as for the rough idling while using it. i'll say that i have had that hard start in the winter also. im assuming its because the lucas oil is so thick even though you mixed it with your oil, it will be very thick during very cold weather making your car either hard to start or run rough until it warms up thinning it out a little.and it depends on what weight oil your using also. just my .02.......
I tried it in my engine way back. On colder start ups one lifter would peck for about 2 or 3 seconds. I had just put a new set of lifters in. I changeded my oil back to 100% Mobil one the lifter never did peck again to this day and that was about 35K ago.
Just go to Autozone and spin the Lucas Oil additive display thing really really fast and you will see the air trapped in the Lucas oil. If you spin the other side which is just motor oil it doesn't show the same air trapped in it. We all know the air trapped in oil is not providing any lubrication.
When I blew my head gasket and removed my valve covers and intake there was globs of stuff that looked like fat all over the inside.
I know I won't use it again!
