LT's on lowered cars.....

ok i have a WS6 so it is already a little lower than the usual fbody and i have the SLP level 1 suspension on it too, so all together my car is about an inch lower than your average WS6 suspension. my question is if i get LT's would i have a big clearance issue with them?? i was looking at either the jet hot's or the new PPC LT1 headers. any input on this would be great. thanx!! later.

Well if it helps you out any, i measured awhile back on my non-lowered car and i had either 4" or 4 1/2" (cant remember which) of clearance at the lowest point.

I don't think you will be able to clear the average speed bump. Just my opinoin. I have a hard time already.

I have problems with my FLPs but I have the JOhn Ames Eibachs so my car is LOW! IMHO Jet hots hang down a little far for a slammed car, if I were you I would take a look at dynatechs they seem to have the best ground clearence.

I have eibach sportline springs, and just over 2 inches ground clearance driver's side.(three keyboard rows) 1/4 inch more passenger side, which is right up against the floorboard. Y-pipe hangs another 1/4 inch lower then the collectors. No speedbumps, naturally. It's not as bad as people make it out to be. I've scraped once that I didn't expect. It's all about knowing where you can and cant go.

I have Hooker LTs and an Eibach drag launch kit and I have to be careful where I go......its not too bad but I do scrape speedbumps and such.....it hits the exhaust not the collectors ......mostly.

The TPIS headers are said to have good ground clearence, even on lowered cars. Super Chevy also had a little write up saying they were the easiest to install and BEST performing LTs they had ever used. I know what Im going with.

My car sits really low...I have the Sportlines and Hookers. I only scrape my y-pipe when pulling in and out of my garage. Speed bumps aren't a problem as long as I take them at an angle. There are some pictures of the stance of my car in my signature.

This is what ground clearance is like on my car at the stock ride height

http://www.geocities.com/greasemunkeey/Clearance1.jpg

Copy and paste if the link doesn't work. If you have a soda can next to you and your are sure you're 1" lower then you can tell how much ground clearance you'll have.

I have The Level 1 SLP suspension too and Have Grot Longtubes on my car. The only time on scrape is on Big Speed Bumps. Its not all that bad. I think it would be even better if I did not have cats and a custom Y-pipe made especailly for my needs. But I am selling the grots and Y-pipe and getting a set of Jet Hots LTs and a "custom" Y-pipe with no cats. That should give me a little more ground clearance but I will also have way better plug access, and starter access than the grots. It may sound somewhat crazy but I figure for selling the grots will off set the price of the Jet Hot Lts and I will have the same great power, great sound, great coating, but with little better all around clearance and way better Plug and Starter access.

Thanks,
Claude

I have JET HOT LT's on my car and a set of Hotchkis lowering springs, it is low but it isn't as bad as you may think. As someone said earlier you just have to know where you can and can't go.
