lt4 valve cover clearance??

okay, so i got some lt4 valve covers so that theyll clear my 1.6 RRs... and i go to put them on, and they dotn even come close.. there still like 1/4 inch between the gasket and the head.. i looked on the inside and it looks like there are braces for the stock lt4 style rockers, so do i have to cut those off?

hook a brotha up with some info?

You left out what rockers you are using. cmon, don't make us have to pry it out of you.

My Comp Pro Mags and LT4 covers work fine.

How tall are the adjusting nuts? Take pics if possible. I doubt it's the width of the rockers holding you up.

Correct, if you are using long style poly locks, you definitely could have some interference. Make sure you have short style poly locks.

When recently building my 388 LT1 for my 96 Vette using Scorpion 1.7RRs and tall poly-locks, I had cover clearance problems too. Covers wouldn't sit flush with the head and I had the same gap as you mentioned. The underside of the covers were siting on the polylocks preventing them from dropping down flush.

I went with 1/4" taller covers from SummitRacing, but had to mod the baffles in them to clear a rocker on each head. Covers ran about $150 and are GM licensed.

I also had to grind a small area on the alternator to clear the taller cover.

No problems here with the LT4s. Just buy the shorter poly locks from comp cams and you're set.

If the valve cover are not from a 96 vette, you have to clearance the composite valve cover for roller rockers. I did a 1994 vette, and the valve cover had to be clearanced. The ones I got from a 96 vette fit on with no problems.
