LT4 springs for 1.7 rr's?

I thought I remember the lt4 springs being good for .525" and with the 1.7's the exhaust will be .524 and intake .510 on a stock cam. Is that too close and is there a better spring to choose from thats $$ friendly like the lt4's and easy on the vavletrain?

I would only run LT4 springs on a stock cam and at most 1.6 RRs, the LT4s I have seen are marginal even at .525...

Hotcam lift is .525 so .524 will be okay. I'm not sure what Shon meant by marginal, but they are working fine for me with 1.6 rockers and stock rev limit.

When putting my heads together the shop guy tested them and thought they were too close to coil bind. I said OK and let him put different springs on there.

And come to think about it, those springs he chose were crap and messed up alot of stuff and cost me some cash, now I run 977s. So maybe he didnt know what he was talking about. I do see alot of people using the LT4 springs with the hot cam so it must be OK.

I just like more seat pressure but for a stock cam they would be OK I guess.....

Its not going over 6000 rpm I mean it is a stock cam, but if there is a better choice for a relatively similar price lemme know... Thanks

Valve lift with the stock cam and 1.7s is .507 int, .520 exh. You can get the LT4 spings, locks, retainers, and guideplates for around $80 from www.paceparts.com . Jason Cromer at sam taylor might be able to get you an even better deal.

I've seen somewhere that the LT4 springs won't bind until .530-.535 lift, so you'll be ok. I'm doing the 1.7s this summer and have already priced everything.... and for the scorpion rockers and all it came out just under $300. Not bad for a slated 15-20rwhp gain. I'm going to check with Jason about the prices on the LT4 stuff before i order from pace since he might let it go cheaper.

badass, I have a 94 and the cam is different than the newer ones, I remember it having slightly higher lift, but things should be ok, thanks!

IMO LT4 springs suck. I've built 2 motors with them, the first had no pull whatsoever over 5000 with the LT4 hotcam and the second which is my cammed '94 has wicked pull down low and in the midrange, and the powerband drops off like a TPI over 4500 RPM. My fault, I'm running a 224/232 grind with .502/.510 lift, but they can't handle much. I spoke to lloyd about my heads and he confirmed that they have a rather shallow 100 pounds on the seat and like 270 open.

Personally I'm not going to run anything less than a 125/330 ish anymore with a cam hotter than the hotcam...now I'm using comp 987's and have yet to put them on but I think it'll pull alot better now
