im deciding whether or not to buy a used set of lt4 1.6 rockers straight off of a corvette. Can it work w/ my stock springs? This guy also says the rockers are setup for zero net lash, anyone know if this is true?

 

you might be able to get by without springs but why risk it.

 

You can get away with it. I put a set on my old motor and was shifting at 5800. I was bringing it to the track w/NOS 150 hp and was running 11.80's in the qtr. Car was a 95 T/A w/6speed.

 

Yea, u can run the 1.6 RR on stock springs, but DEFINITELY do NOT shift past 6000 RPM. I have known a few ppl to get valve float at higher RPMs with a different roller rocker ratio.

I would also highly recommend u set them at zero lash, or again, possibility of valve float.

 

im just afraid if i ask my guy to do the springs also i will get charged more. im tight on money for the install. what springs do you guys recommend?

 

If you're shifting before 6000, you're not getting all you can out of the motor. Stock springs will be marginally close to coil bind.

Look into the Comp 987 springs. You'll be glad you did.
