LT4 Rocker Covers = Nice :)

Just finished installing the LT4 rocker covers and all I can think of is to slap
myself for not doing it 6 years ago. What a nice fit, and no messing around
with the stock gasket. The rockers are also noticeably quieter. I'm still in the
middle of breaking in the valve springs so after another 5 minute idle session
and about 100 easy miles I will find out if my valve train issue is resolved. Or
I should say, what I believe to be a valve train issue.

Just bolt them on and go. Clears the Pro Mags, clears the alternator, and
they went on easier than the stockers.

Thanks, What did you pay for them? Did you get them from Jason at Sam Taylor?

What valve train issues?? 6 years ago?? Stock gasket? man that stock gasket is so easy... I used that gasket maker that comes with a little brush.. and brush it on the stocker valve cover... that was it. I had to hammer my valve covers back in on the pax side and the gasket never came off once.... I even removed it twice to check if the new roller rockers were rubbing....

I bet you guys tought of using some type of gasket maker glue in there before sitting the Stocker Valve Gasket ..... or did you??

so Anyway... 6 years valve train problems?? What valve train problems? or just noisy?

This is what I paid, parts are from George Chevrolet in Bellflower, CA:

12552321 $106.37 cover
12552322 $113.69 cover
10108675 $1.15 x 10 bolt
10108674 $3.87 x 8 stud
12555685 $5.89 oil cap
12557604 $4.46 hose

Total was $272.87, not as good as Dal or Jason, but 23% less than list,
plus I like buying local if I can. Been buying parts from the same guy since
1981.

Marvin........just breathe slowly and everything will be OK. Just kidding. My
valve train issues are a special case, which is believed to be lifter bounce
due to insufficient spring pressure. Take a look at the dyno graph if you have
any questions.

I don't glue the stock rubber gaskets so it's tricky getting them to stay in the
cover until it's in place. Usually three to four tries for me. As said previously,
the LT4 covers dampen the sewing machine effect quite a bit.

Re: LT4 Rocker Covers = Nice :)

Glad to hear that they work so well. I'll have to see how loud my new valvetrain will be, and if it will be annoying enough to order new valve covers.

Any feedback on your new springs?

Dan

Re: LT4 Rocker Covers = Nice :)

Dan,

I'm still in the break in phase so no report yet. After about 100 easy miles
I'll be ready to give it a go. I'll put up a post on the sotp results, probably
in a couple of days. If sotp says problem solved, then it's off to the dyno.
