LT4 KM worth it??

I have been reading up on what the KM does and everything and I've read that loud exhaust can mess the reading up on them sometimes. Well about a year ago I got a flowmaster muffler and cut the cat off and its pretty loud now. And I noticed that it gained power but at about 5000 or 5500 it seems to strain if you know what I mean it does pull like it should. Is this because of the KM and should I get the LT4 KM??

It'll never hurt to get one. The only way to to tell if you need one is to hook up a scanner and see if you are getting knock retard.

Not only do you need to know if you're getting knock, but you need to know if it's false knock (caused by mechanical vibrations like exhaust or RRs). You can distinguish false from true knock by bumping up the octane (race fuel) to see if the knock disappears. If higher octane "cures" the knock, then you have true knock and need to cure your problem (tune up). If it's false knock, the LT4 KM can help as it's tuned to ignore RR noise (LT4 engines came with RRs).

Thanks for adding that since I forgot to.

Re: LT4 KM worth it??

Just for reference all I had was a magnaflow catback, The car was anbolute big in the higher rpm range. So I used datamaster and found out it the PCM was pulling over 10 degrees at pretty much any rpm over 4k, so I got the LT4 km and now my problem is solved....

If it's pulling 10 degrees what will it say? Datamaster told me "Spark Retard = 5.0" so does that mean 5 degrees being pulled?

I'm claiming much more, I trimmed a full second with it and 3 minutes of tuning. The car was pulling 22 degrees of timing, basically shutting off in my power band, and with an LT4 KM and a degree here or there adjusted, I went from 14.0 to 12.9 at the time results may vary

How much can the LT4 km take? How many mods or what mods will it take to make even the lt4 km start reading false knock?
