LT4 Kit

Ok, before i got my hopes up about this LT4 kit that my friend (another f-body addict) has been telling me about. I wanted to get your take on it here at the sorce. What kinda power am i looking at, price range, instilation of the parts all that great stuff. Aslo what other work should i do on the car when i put this in, for conviniance sake and just to make the car work better with the new power?

Thanks!

i take it you are talkin about the lt4 hot cam kit? If so, it costs around 550 with tax from a dealer. That is cheaper than anywhere, unless u find it on this board. Dont buy it from ls1speed.com, or any other places like that, they charge 700 for it. The install costs around 400 if you have somebody do it, that is what i was charged at 50 bucks an hour. It should give some good performance no matter what you have done, but it pretty much varies from car to car, depending on what bolt ons you have right now.

Anybody else wanna chime in here with any other info.

He's not talking about the hotcam kit...he's talking about the complete $2300 package with heads, cam and intake. I was just about to post this, as I've heard some crazy things about this kit delivering upwards of 400+ horsepower.

I know, stock, they were only putting down 320-340 horsepower.

Anyone running an LT4 setup right now? Want to chime in? Dyno graphs would be welcome.

It's really not when you look at what else you can do for that price and see MUCH larger gains...

Ported stock LT1 heads with 2.00"/1.55" valves will make a lot more power than unported LT4 heads. Ported LT4s... big bucks and big smile. The best bang for the buck would be ported stock heads.

True, but buying all of that individually is a HELL of a lot more.

Not really more at all. For $2,300 you get heads, intake, cam, rockers, springs etc... I paid $600 to get my heads ported, cam $250-300 depending on what you get, rockers $250, springs ret etc.. $150. You don't need an intkae so put all that together and you can kick some LT4 butt believe me. For under $2,000 you could have custom cam, better springs, better flowing heads, atiming set and a program too. If you bought the LT4 stuff for $2,300 you would still have to spend another $500 for timing set and programming. Goodluck Clint

But, how much of an output am i going to get from this... i've heard everywhere from the stock LT4s to the 400+ LT4s... i just want to know if dumping money into something like the LT4 or what you guys are suggesting would be a good idea.
