LT4 Hot Cam Springs for 1.6 Pro Mags?

This is on a stock cam. With the stock springs it pushes it pretty close, and I dont want to have the coils bind. Plus my car was totaled in 96 and I put it together and got it on the road only last year. So I thought maybe that could have hurt the valve springs from it sitting that long, almost 7 full years without the engine even being rotated. Would you guys change the springs now too since im going to do 1.6 RR's ... And also, if I do change the springs, are the lt4 Hot Cam Springs fine to use? Would I need to buy anything else to use them? Thanks

Re: LT4 Hot Cam Springs for 1.6 Pro Mags?

Also ... I was thinking of getting new valve covers now cause mine annoy me ( One is black, one is brushed aluminum, one of them apparently got a hole in it when the car was totaled, and my solution was to get one for free at a junkyard . If I dont change them, 1.6 Pro Mags clear them dont they?

And if I was to change them, What aftermarket ones will have the clearance for them? I dont want to buy new ones then have to cut the baffles out anyways ...

Don't use the stock springs. I have the Crane 10308 spring kit on my hotcam and they work great.

Are you going to change the cam in the car? If so choosing the right spring now will save you $$$ in the future just something to think about lt4 come with all stuff needed to put them in.

Re: LT4 Hot Cam Springs for 1.6 Pro Mags?

I wont be camming it for a few years. Im saving to do a forged and blown 383, so I will be getting a custom grind then. I dont want to put a NA cam in it now, and have it suck when I finally build my blown stroker, so it wont be cammed for a while. So basically im looking for the cheapest, effective valve springs that I can spin her to redline with without having to worry about them binding on me. Hence the reason I figured the GMPP LT4 HC springs would be ideal.

Stock springs should not be used with 1.6RR. The hotcam springs will work great. The hotcam kit that includes those springs comes with 1.6RR and a larder cam so with the stock cam you are plenty fine. Also if you search around, you may find someone that has a slightly used set that they'll sell cheap.

1.6 Pro Mags and LT4 springs are what I'm running. I got the LT4 retainers and keepers too.
