lt4 heads or port lt1's

ok i am lost on this subject but i was looking around and thinking about getting lt4 heads, lt4 intake, 58mm throttle body, and a cam, is this a good set up or a waste of money, or would it better just to get my heads i have port and polished? and what kind of horsepower gains would the first set up give me? i am needing some serious horsepower gains but dont really know where to start, i want to do something that i will really be able to tell the difference and have no problem taking a 2000 mustang Gt m5...or should i just start out with the basics...ex. cai, headers... thanks for any help and please include details because like i said, i dont really know much about this...thanks guys

I would start with the basics. Go with a cat back, headers, free mods, CAI, to start out with. Then do a head and cam package all at the same time if you want more power. O and you probably can already take a 2000 gt, even if you are bone stock.

If you both just have catbacks system then it should be based on the driver. And don't get heads and cam before you do your basic boltons because they won't perform like they should. Here is what you need to fly.
1. K&N , Morso, or any CIA except for the G2. Cost is about $180 and installs in minutes.
2. Headers are one of the best mods for a F-body being the stock ones are so restrictive. If you do not have emissions then go longtubes(Hooker, Jet Hot, AS&M) are all good and since you are already planning heads and cam they would make the most power. If you have emissions then the most popular would be the MAC midlenghts. I hear only great things about them.
3. Heads and cam would be next if you have the money.

The throttle bodies and mass air flow sensors do not give that much on a stock engine. Actually unless you are using boost then they are not needed unless you have money to throw around.

3.73's or 4.10's are always an option as well
