LT4 dynoing low?

Ok. I got the receipts for the work done to the TA I just bought last month.

I looked up the parts numbers and got the follwing.

From SDPC;
12363287 LT4 head
12480002 LT4 hot cam SB
12550630 GM performance Fuel injected '96 LT4 intake

From summit
mch-4485 power pulley

Car also has 3.73 gears, rebuilt/strengthened 4l60e, rebuild torque converter(not sure which one it has), trans cooler, new opti, SLP CAI, and a muffler shop cat back.

My problem is that the car only dynoed 297rwhp and 308ft/lbs. I know it was VERY lean and each pull was aborted due to that. Also it still has stock manifolds and cats.

What "should" this car dyno properly tuned or with an adjustable fuel pressure regulator? I've heard 330~ish would be about right. I hope to have Lt's and a ory on there in the next month. Also what kinda 1/4 mile can I expect out of it?

A buddy of mine has a 30th TA m6 and his friend has a mid 12 sec C5, he said my car feels like it should be in the 12's.

Thanks guys

Re: LT4 dynoing low?

The 1997 SS LT4 Camaro had a GM rated 330HP.
Factor in 15% parasitic loss that comes out to 280RWHP so to me your in the neighborhood of that car.

In order to get the bigger gains you need headers and a tune at the least.

Also the 425HP that the LT4 kit claims to provide is a joke.
The adjustable fuel pressure regulator is no the answer to the lean condition.

Are you running 1.6 ratio roller rockers?

You can go upwards of 330rwhp. I went 348rwhp on my A4, But did have all bolt-ons and a pcmforless tune.

To the best of my knowledge, no it doesnt have 1.6 rr's. What would help the lean condition?

Re: LT4 dynoing low?

I wouldn't expect anymore out of it with those stock exhaust manifold's

Re: LT4 dynoing low?

I personally think he should be running rich instead of lean...especially if he has the stock tune. I'd check the fuel pressure and go from there.....

Also carefully check that the intake elbow is installed properly and not sucking air downstream of the MAF....that will lean it out too.

Re: LT4 dynoing low?

Car was dynoed at HP Performance in Orange Park FL. Its a dynojet. I have a receipt for having the PCM reflashed, but not sure what exactly was done. The owner said it was done to avoid SES after the4 LT4 install.

+ Long tube headers and a LE port job on those heads and you'll see over 350hp IMO.

Re: LT4 dynoing low?

I also have the LT4 conversion and dynoed 332 RWHP 327 RWTQ @ Next Level Performance in Altamonte Springs, FL. I had an exhaust leak in the primary slip tube on my Hookers fixed which yeilded me more HP. Like the other guy's said get some long tubes and 1.6rr's and you should see more HP and torque.

First you need to find out why you are running lean, then when you solve that invest in the 1.6's and some long tubes and get it tuned again on a dyno. You also might want to contact Bryan Herter @ PCMforless and have your computer reflashed by him.
