lt4 corvette camshaft

I was wondering if I could just take a lt4 corvette camshaft and swap it out with my stock lt1 camshaft without doing any other conversions. Info on my car is in my sig.

The production LT4 cam is not as big as the LT4 Hot cam so depending on mileage on the car your stock valve springs should be okay, but I would NEVER suggest reusing stock valve springs. I wouldn't even reuse aftermarket valve springs unless they were very low milage, especially going to a bigger cam.

In other words yes, but as a safety precaution I would also change out your valve springs.

No, you'd need a new timing set and new timing cover as well (93 comes with non-vented 96 was vented)

There's no point in doing that since they are basically the same size.

No he wouldn't, it's a standard roller cam. The only thing that might need to be modified is the dowel pin to the opti.

You're right just took a look at the pictures of the cams

The one on the left == vented right == unvented. The leftl'l work in place of the right one as long as the dowel pin is modified. Though theres not a lot to gain by going to the LT4 camshaft, the LT4 was more than just a camshaft, it was new set of heads and different rockers as well.
The cam specs are here

Not a lot more duration there and the lift advantage you'd get most of that just putting in 1.6:1 rockers.

Installing a stock LT4 camshaft in an LT1 is a waste of time. Use some 1.6 roller rockers with your LT1 camshaft and it will be close to the stock LT4 cam.

I was going to mention the waste of time part. At least scrounge around and find a good used Hotcam for ~$100 if you're going to spend the time.

Considering the cost of just a replacement gasket set and other materials, along with the invested labor, I would definitely look into the Hotcam or better. With the Hotcam, you can pretty much get away with everything aside from a valve spring change.

I'll be very honest with you.

For the time and work involved, I wouldn't do it for a cam with such meager performance.
If your trying to do major mods on a budget,a cam swap ins't one of them. It's better to have fresh parts when you do a job of that severity.

Get a bigger cam, the "LT4 cam" might provide teeny tiny HP increase over the stock LT1 cam. The LT4 hot cam is another story.
