lt4 composite valve covers successful at reducing noise?
Just wondering if anyone running pro mag rockers who may have gotten fed up with the constant sewing machine noise and tried to use the lt4 corvette composite valve covers to remedy or lessen the problem. I know that the composite covers were designed in part to muffle the valvetraine noise on the vettes... Anyone have any success with this?
I've got the Pro Mag 1.6 and the notorious Comp R lifters.. Topped it off with the proform cast aluminum valve covers (black satin finish). Aluminum transmits more noise than the steel, but rather than taking a step back, I've been thinking about the composite ones.
WIth regards to lashing, the damn comp R's (my fault, I bought them) are so finniky.. I've adjusted them a bunch of times over the past few years, even with the engine running and can tell a difference between a noticeable tick when theye are too loose, and the clank when too tight.. So I'm pretty sure they are dead on and its just a result of my particular parts setup...
