Yep, I too bought the Hotcam kit when my motor was apart.

Sold the cam and springs on the For sale board and picked up a new CC306 and 986 valve springs, etc. Keep the rockers that came with the kit though.
I recently made 350rwhp with stock heads and a very conservative "summer" tune for 91 octane.

The LSA has more to do with how hard it peaks. By this i mean the smaller LSA may have 5 more peak HP at the same rpm, but give up 5 ftlbs at a lower rpm. The intake duration has more to do with what rpm it peaks at.

There are some EXCELLENT threads on this topic if you search on here.

my current mods are: M6, moroso cai, bbk TB 58mm, msd 6al, msd coil, msd wires, jet hot long tubes ( no cat ) w/ flowmaster, foreged rotating assembly including wiesco 11:1 pistons, mcleod clutch, lca's, ranhard rod, torque arm, heads are ported and polished ( sorry no numbers), pro 5.0 shifter.

as for my shift point around 6000 would be fine. also iin the near future 4:10 gears with ta girdle

oh yeh, your car sounds great.
thanks,
jeez you should have mentioned the ported heads and non stock bottom end sooner

I'm no engine building professional but I think you should go with the 224/230 on a 112. The 306 would be best shifted in the high 6k rpm range if you really want to maximize your use of the available HP so thats not the best chioce.

I didn't even read the replies, b/c I don't have time right now. But, I had the LT4 hotcam kit in my 95 Z for about 2 years. I switched over to the CC306 last Oct. and I LOVED it. I also put on some Stage II LT4 heads though.

That 306 rocks. But, I have to say, that you would be best off getting some head work, ect. That cam needs to breath. I got it up to 6800 last night, and it was still pulling like a wild b*tch. I had to let off though.

VERY good after about 60 mph. Alright on the low end, but I love the change. A lot of people were against the switch, but I did it anyway.

Tuning!!!! YOU will need that. That cam will cause BLM splits like crazy. My tuning for now is from Bryan at PCM4less

GOOD luck!
