LT4 355 Qtr mile times

OK, I think I finally have this damn car runnin good. It has been a long rough road. LOL I was just wondering if I can get some ideas on what some of you might think this damn thing might run in the quarter as I am gonna run her at Route66 this Saturday if the weather permits. Specs of the motor are as follows:
LT1 4 bolt bored .30
Forged flat top JE pistons
LT4 hot cam with 1.6 roller rockers
LT4 heads ported with stainless unshrouded valves
LT4 intake ported with 30# svo injectors and 52mm BBK TB
BBk shorty headers with cat and Borla exhaust with full open plate
MSd 6al ignition box
10" 2800 Coan stall and 3.73 gears with auburn carrier and LCA's in the back
LS1 Speed Inc Dyno tune

The last time I had it at the strip was last year and it ran a 13.40 with a crap tune and bad torque convertor. Let me know what you guys think. I dont think I am forgeting anything.

Sounds like it should run really well, low 12's and maybe high 11's. What kind of numbers did it put down when you had it dynot tuned at Speed, Inc?

high 11's? I don't know. There are a lot of people with with bigger cams that don't run high 11's. I think I would say low to mid 12's.

Well the car dynoed 325 horse and I think 345 torque(not sure on the torque) But the numbers werent good as the torque convertor was not working correctly and the trans was on its way out. I also had a few bad plugs. So I have installed a new Trans and convertor and changed the plugs. So I am hoping for mid 12's at least.

Well, with 325 RWHP, you're not going to get into th 11's. I would say 12.50's to 12.80's.

why such a small cam on a stroker motor? I still think you should have more hp than that. Who did your head work and was a valve job put on them?

woops..sorry..still seems low to me Just doesn't seem like my solid roller cam going through a 9" and 4.71 gears would be worth 100 rwhp with the lt1 heads. Over 130 rwhp difference with my lt4 heads. Maybe I'm missing something big..I know its through an auto but my rear end just about cancels that out.

I think if you dont spin the tires you are looking at 12.8 at about 112 mph. That is pretty respectable if you look at cars that can actually run that fast in the real world(not on paper).

Cam is a big difference. Your running a solid which is custom ground and I am sure it has a hell of alot more lift then my Hotcam not to mention LSA and durations are probably alot better then mine. I cant make this car to damn fast as it is the wifes car. She is the one driving it. Thats one of the reasons I went with the Hotcam. Trust me, I went a hell of alot bigger in my 383. I have a custom grind in the 600's. But again, I dont need the wife wrapping her T/A around a damn pole or the engine so radical it shakes her implants out of her. LOL The dyno numbers ar elow as I said because of the Convertor taking a **** and the intermediate sprag being busted in her trans. Found this all out a week after having the Dyno done.

I didn't say a 355 can't run a high 11. I said that combo probably won't. You can get a lot of power out of it.

I used to run a 12.8 at 108mph with a 1.7 60 ft. I'm thinking he will trap 110-112 mph with a 12.4-12.5 ET if he pulls a good short time like 1.8-1.9. These are my predictions. Lets start a betting pool.

Re: LT4 355 Qtr mile times

Since you have taken care of the tranny/converter/plugs problems, I would expect that you are making around 360-375rwhp.
As for what you will run??? Do you have slicks or DRs? What gears? What are the track conditions, ie traction, altitude, usual weather?
If I had to make a guess, I would say 12.3@115

Re: LT4 355 Qtr mile times

how good of a dyno tune can you possibley get with fould out plugs and in acurate dyno results. How on earth would the tuner know if he had improved over his last changes if the tranny and converter was crapping out. IMO I would have got all that fixed then paid the big bucks for the dyno tune for best results.
