Exclamation LT1edit and laptop Beginner Questions!

Unfortunately, i am a mac user, and there is no lt1 software for any of my computers. I plan on buying a cheap pentium laptop from ebay, and the cheapest software and cables to go along with it. I was wonering whatthe minimum i should look for in a computer is (mhz/ram/hd/etc...) and whrer i can get the cheapest cable to connect to my 95. I would like to only monitor engine sensors now, and log 1/4 mile runs, but in the future would like to reflash my PCM. Please leave me any info you can and where i can buy all this stuff from! Thanks!

Might want to try posting over in the Computer forum, you'll get more responses. First, don't waste your money on LT1Edit, get Tunercat. You'll spend about $150 less and get a lot more for your money. Go to www.tunercat.com and you can try it out for free (you'll have to buy the definition file, but it's only $20). It only runs about $100 for all the software you need. It only works on PCs as well, so first get a laptop so you can use it. I have a 120Mhz Pentium with 72 MB of RAM and it works great for Tunercat (at least it did until it took a dump on me, haven't had the time or the parts to fix it yet, grrr). For logging software, either Freescan or TTS Datamaster will work. Freescan is free, while Datamaster will cost you. Datamaster has some extra features, but Freescan is a perfectly good program as well. Freescan is here, http://www.andywhittaker.com/ecu/download.htm and Datamaster is www.tsspowersystems.com . As for the cable, the cheapest way is to build on yourself. Only cost you about $30-$40 if you go that route. But you need to be good with a soldering gun if you want to do it that way. Otherwise, go to www.akmcables.com and get one from Andrew. It'll run you about $100. You you can end up spending anywhere from about $150 to about $400 or more. Check out the computer forum, you'll find even more info that what I told you here.

Thanks i think i;m gonna get freescan, tunercat, and the 95 buck cable from AKM. I found a laptop on ebay, an HP with a 133mhz,1.3 gig, and 48 mg of RAM for only 50 bucks - can't beat that.

My last question is can freescan log runs and will that computer be able to handle logging if so?
