First you need to verify battery is charged and will hold charge
Then if battery checks out test alternator. Also check your power block if everything tight
And not corroded

Start there first.

hook jumpers up to it and see if you get power, then if you can get it to start and run pull the hot battery cable, if the car then dies its a bad alternator

It could be ignition switch related.

Ouch! Don't ever pull the hot wire off the alternator while running
I know its an "old school" way to check if alternator but it is a big no no
Easiest way is to test it with a multi meter. While running probe the battery if you get 13- 13.8 volts then
Alternator is working. I have seen some charge a little lower but not less than 12.5 volts

not off the alt., off the battery it does the same trick without the shocking side effect, shoebox could be correct as well, also could be vats see if your security light is blinking as well

That was the next area but I'm slow lol

Btw on that topic have you ever seen a car have dead spot in the ignition cause
Of this? Reason I ask is I have to wait a few seconds or when alt gauge goes up else
Its dead if I just put key in and immediately turn it. Just wondered

The switch has sliding contacts, so anything is possible if it gets worn out.
