The rubber hose i'm pointing to in the pics...coming out of the right side of the intake manifold on my engine is leaking air. Makes a hissing noise that goes away when i push on it.

What part is it and is it important or can i just leave it?

pcv valve. replace it and replace the hose if needed.

It's very important. Positive Crankcase Ventilation valve. It will cause a nasty vacuum leak fast! They are cheap as dirt ($3-$4). If you're hearing hissing from that area the hose is bad and needs to be changed. Even if the hose is not cracked it can be hard and not have a good seal. Also, the grommet could be bad (hard or cracked) so check it and make sure it's ok.

 

OK, cool. My first thought was a PCV but im new to these motors. I know those are important, so i'll pick one up in the morning. thanks
