LT1 vs. LS1

Ok my cousin just got slp camaro ss and i lost to it horribly. I got him off the start. But then he came back and blew past me like i was standing still. What mods that are fairly cheap that i can do that will kinda give me a better chance in beating him. I have about 1200 dollars and want to keep it naturally aspirated. I was thinking about ported intake or lt4 intake

I would think a lt1 with gears, headers, exhaust, drag radials would be enough to beat a stock ls1. Is your car tuned? Is your car stick or auto.

with $1200 i'd just slap a stall in it and maybe a cam. or you could save a few hundred more and put and le2 setup in it

According to this site www.elliottsportworks.com about $1300 without the cam and $1600 with the caqm.

nah I have both so I can finally chime in on these ltx vs lsx and be listened to. my 94 is an auto with full exhaust, and a k&n and it falls a little shy of my 99 M6 when it was a stock engine and bolt-ons. I mean if they are matched mod for mod, you're looking at 15-25 more hp on the LS1, lower weight, and lower parasitic loss on the m6. If he drove badly you might have him by a car or two in the 1/4.

now HP and 1/4 mile said, racing to say 50mph may be a little different story. If you can keep your LS1 buddy at lower rpm and not allow his *** to get much time above 4k, you'll have him easy

Install a quality 3k stall like this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/EDGE-...Q5fAccessories and a pcmforless.com tune and then you should waste him. Save up for a cc503 cam a with 1.6 roller rockers and he will be way back. As long as your car is running correctly. In a auto car the stall and tune will really help a lot.

You can go with either the le1 or the le2 packages and blow a stock ls1 away. The stock ls1 has about twenty five to forty more horsepower stock v.s. stock depending on the year of your camaro. Also with a mild cam, performance stall, headers, cai kit, and a tune you would deifnately be beating his stock *** and without even modding with the cam or torque converter you could go with headers and cai kit along with a performance tune 160 thermostat, and am underdrive pulley set would do the trick for you two to be neck and neck with and advantage going to you if he is stock. You dont have to get heavy on the modding if your not ready for it. I think if you grab a manual and read a bit just to make sure of what you want and in the meantime you can go ahead and get these mods because you can still use these later with whatever setup your decide to get as to where if you get a head and cam package and do not like it then theres where the money starts pouring in.
