lt1 upgrades for small budget??

hey guys, im really thinking into buying a cam for my lt1. its in a 1995 z28 mostly stock. just bolt on mods such as CAI, lt headers, a cutout, and flowmaster exhaust. were rebuilding the engine and I don't really want to have to go back in later to do some mods. nothing real crazy. I just need to know if there are any cams that could work with the stock rocker arms and springs for a low cost? the best "bang for the buck" if you will. I don't have to worry about paying for installation, I can do it myself which really helps a lot. thanks for any help!!

If your change the cam you have to change the springs .....
you can buy the LT4 hot cam kit for cheap ....installation will set you back $1,200 in N.C
I.M.O. the cc503 is a better cam on stock heads but I'm no expert

Stock springs barely suffice for the factory cam/rockers. I wouldn't run the stock springs with the stock cam and 1.6 rockers.

You can get a set of LT4 springs pretty cheap which are good to about .525 lift. They will be okay with the LT4 hotcam if you decide to go that route. They sell a kit for about $550 which makes it the best bang for the stock head cam out there IMO.

I second the LT4 hotcam kit if you can work that into your budget, comes with 1.6 self aligning rr, new springs, retainers and locks. I ran that set up on stock heads for quite some time and it pulled hard. You will also need a tune if you are swapping cams, so take that into consideration as well. Mail-order tune from madtuner with that kit, I reach 321/332 rw hp/tq.
