lt1 or switch to stock ls1
lt1 or switch to stock ls1
I am about to buy an lt1 camaro, but it unfortunately has the 98+ front end. I am not sure if I would like to switch the front end back or put in an ls1. Which would be the faster/better engine? the lt1 has "its got an lt4 performance cam kit ported heads ported eldebrock intake ported throttle body pacesetter longtube headers dual flowmaster 40 series motive 3.73 gear B&M automatic shift kit-- B&M shifter + k&n cold air intake system" while the ls1 would be stock, at least for the summer. any help would be great, thanks
somewhat yes, and i was wondering if the ls1 would be a better engine anyways. lets say i switched to a lt1 front end, could i make a decent amount of money on this? like some more to spend on the car? ha
I don't know, LS1 front end conversion parts can be rounded up relatively cheap, not to mention you'll have to cost of finding the correct LT1 parts to replace them with. The LS1 is a better platform to work, but the LT1 does have its advantages as well and can make some very good power too.
I have the same problem.
I would have changed the front end out with my 94 V6 Camaro, but I don't want to lose out on the SS Hood I already have on it.
Someone recently switched from a LT1 to LS1 front end and it cost him $500 in parts, and $500 in paint, so going the other way would probably cost about the same.
You could do quite a bit to your car with a $1,000, but if it really bothers you, get it changed.
