Re: Lt1 Swap Into 85 Vette

I did this swap into my 84 corvette and its not all that bad. Some things to consider, You will need to either add a steam vent to the radiator or get a radiator that has a fitting. I removed the coolant level sensor and taped it for a 1/4" nipple and it workled great. You will need a LT1 harness modifies or you wil need to do it yourself (Jims performance will do it for about $200) THe ECM will need to be VATS disabled and programed for no trany and any emisions deletes you may want done (Ion did this for me and I would recomend him any day) You will need to get some fuel lines fabed with quick disconects on one end (I had a local hose shop do this for $20 they made me some nice HP fuel lines that worked great. You will also need A/C hoses fabeed if you plan on retaining the A/C. Thats all I can think of at the moment. THe last thing is if you have a 700R trany you wil need a lock up kit for the converter (Bowtie overdrives) and a 93 throttle bracket and either a 93 TB or an adapter for the TV cable (S&P sells the adapter and the 93 bracket and TV cable for less the $100 fro all three)

1.accesories(power Steering,altinator)
Get the corvette assy bracket and assy's (Got mine off e-bay for $400 for everything) THe f-body assy bracket wont work because it is to low and on the passangers side

2.headers
Any L89 or LT1 C4 headers will work as long as you dont plan on keeping the air pump or EGR then you will need 94-96 C4 LT1 headers w/emisions

3.gauges (i Dont Beleave That Will Be A Big Concern )
All of your gauges will work as long as you install all of the sensors into the LT1 block (Oil temp, Preasure, Temp) THe vss signal from the trany goes straight to the spedo so it will work fine but you will loose the MPG reading but its no big deal
