LT1 scanmaster question.....
LT1 scanmaster question.....
I saw where it is important to put a switch on the data line running from the ADL to the scanmaster when you upload new PCM code.
I also want the ability to turn the datamaster off when its not being used.
My question is can I put the switch on the 12 hot wire instaed of the data wire. The unit will be powered down when code is uploaded. Will this work safely.
Thanks

Re: LT1 scanmaster question.....
I put a double pole switch that will switch the power and data wires. Orginally mine will not allow other programs to communicate with the computer if the datamaster was hooked up.
Re: LT1 scanmaster question.....
Nope wont work, Ive tried. It still will get in the way. Just connect a on off switch to the white data cable. Without a signal the scanmaster will turn itself off anyways.

Thank you very much.
Re: LT1 scanmaster question.....
And I can now verify this in a cold thread reply. I connected my Actron CP9145 scanner and it wouldn't communicate until I turned the scanmaster ON. The CP9145 reluctantly connected and gave live data but when scanning for faults it began to display all sorts of them in error. When viewing the live data the scanmaster would intermittently turn itself on off as I would have expected.
I specifically asked the question you asked here and got the opposite reply. Now I need to go back and do some re-wiring....
