well i took a guys advice from work and tried a thicker oil to see if it would do anything, no such luck still knocking. but my question is will a rod knock if its just slight will it be inconsistant? like sometimes at idle it will go away completely, or when i rev it up it will will be intermitent. im just curious it it could be something else that wasnt as serious.

 

It can be intermittent. Eventually it will get worse as the bearing begins to fail worse for whatever reason. If it sounds like someone is hitting your block with a hammer then it's rod knock. Fairly unique sound.
